Gabriel Rodriguez is a Puerto Rican classical guitarist and educator, with a remarkable career in the nonprofit sector. He received his Bachelor of Music (B.M.) in Classical Guitar Performance studying under Maestro Leonardo Egúrbida, followed by his Master of Music (M.M.) at the Puerto Rico Conservatory of Music, under the tutelage of Maestro Iván Rijos. During his master's, he had the opportunity to learn from Maestro Manuel Barrueco as an artist-in-residence. In addition, he has taken classes with eminent artists such as René Izquierdo, Elina Chekan, Eduardo Fernández, Dr. José A. López, and Orlando Laureano, among others.
In his artistic career, Rodriguez has performed in Puerto Rico, the United States, and Spain. In 2009, he won first prize in the National Classical Guitar Competition in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico, and was subsequently appointed as the event's artistic deputy director. For a decade, he served as an adjunct professor at the Puerto Rico Baptist College, where he conducted the choir and taught Classical Guitar, Music Theory, Ear Training, Introduction to Conducting, Foundations of Teaching Music, and Music Appreciation.
In addition to his commitments as a soloist and educator, Gabriel has played a significant role in socially impactful projects within the nonprofit sector. Currently, he serves as the director of the "Guitars for Change" program from the Baltimore Classical Guitar Society (BCGS), aimed at supporting young immigrants at risk due to gang activity in Annapolis, MD. He also previously served as the interim director of the BCGS Orchestra. Additionally, Rodriguez is the executive director of the Center of Help in Annapolis, MD, the premier provider of support and resources for the immigrant community of Anne Arundel County and its surrounding areas.
